Frequently Asked Questions

What type of pain do chiropractors treat? Do you only work on the spine?

Chiropractors are known for their expertise when it comes to back pain, neck pain, and headaches. We are trained musculoskeletal specialists- meaning we treat all kinds of aches, pains, and injuries relating to muscles, ligaments, and joints. Whether it is an ankle sprain, shin splints, pain traveling down the leg, elbow pain, we are trained to diagnose the condition and get you out of pain as quickly as possible. We are wholistic providers meaning the benefits of chiropractic care encompass the body as a whole and not just the spine.

Does it Hurt? What is the ‘cracking’ sound?

The majority of people actually feel immediate relief after an adjustment and find it to feel ‘really good’! Very rarely someone may experience a minimal amount of soreness from manual muscle therapies but no more than after a light workout. The cracking sound is called a cavitation, when joints are moved or “opened up” small gas pockets release pressure in that joint- similarly to opening up a soda can. This cavitation releases “feel good” chemicals but more importantly allows for greater range of motion at that joint.

How long is a typical appointment?

We believe in 1 on 1 care to give you the best treatment possible. Our initial new patient appointments take around 45 minutes which entails a patient history, a detailed neuromuscular exam, treatment, and assessing what is needed to keep you out of pain. A follow up appointment encompasses a quick follow up assessment and then treatment. This usually only takes about 15-20 minutes.

Do you have to ‘crack’ my neck?

The doctor will ask you how you feel about this on your first visit and if you are uncomfortable with this then they will offer alternative options which can work for your issue while not using the traditional chiropractic adjustments which produce the cracking sound. Cervical manipulation is extremely safe when performed by a licensed professional and has proven to provide pain relief and decrease headaches.

Will I have to keep coming back?

Every person has different types of pain that presents in different ways. With that being said you may be completely better after one visit which is fantastic- we recommend you come back for a follow up and if you are 100% you can go tell all your friends and family about us! But that is usually not the case. Typically chronic ailments take longer to treat than acute injuries. Our goal is to get you out of pain as quickly as possible without emptying your wallet. We believe the best type of care is preventative care, so just like a checkup at the dentist, even if you are feeling great an adjustment keeps things moving right.

Do you take insurance?

We currently accept all types of payment (Cash, Check, Venmo, Card) but we do not accept insurance at this time. We can create a super bill which you can send to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Our licensed medical staff want to be the ones to dictate the unique and specific type of care you need which can be hindered by insurance companies.

Should I see a chiropractor if I am pregnant? What about my kids?

Chiropractic is especially great for pregnant women and kids! Many pregnant women find that chiropractic adjustments improve their pregnancy experience and make delivery easier. The Webster Technique is also a great tool utilized by chiropractors to help with a safe and easy delivery. Kids go through all kinds of growing pains while their body changes. Chiropractic is great for kids of all ages to help check for early signs of scoliosis, manage their growth development, and keep them moving the way a child should be.

Is cracking my own neck and back bad?

If I had a dollar for every time someone asked this question….Yes and No. When you “crack your neck” you are continuously putting motion into the same unspecific region, but over time the segments (vertebrae) above and below that unspecific region are compensating and becoming more and more stiff. This could lead to increased pain and decreased range of motion down the road. A Chiropractor is trained to palpate (feel for) restricted motion at specific locations in the spine.
